A former metro Atlanta student is making history at her university.
Cori Bostic, a former Southwest DeKalb student, has been named the first female drum major at Florida A&M University. According to the school’s newspaper, Bostic has played the piccolo with the FAMU Marching 100 for the past two years.

Bostic is a junior in FAMU’s School of Journalism and Graphic Communications and a member of Delta Sigma Theta, according to the school newspaper.
Her Delta advisor, Tiffany Ardley, explained that this announcement is something they’ve waited all summer for.
“She tried out back in April,” said Alder. “We were just sitting around waiting for the announcement.”
After Tuesday’s announcement, many took to social media to congratulate Bostic.
FAMU’s band is well-known as it has appeared in Super Bowls, concerts, television commercials and presidential inaugural parades.
