The Georgia State Firefighters Association and the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs have named state Sen. John Albers, R-Roswell, their Legislator of the Year for 2011.
Albers, a fourth-generation volunteer firefighter, was selected for his work on behalf of the Georgia fire service in the Georgia General Assembly.
As a freshman legislator, Albers was appointed to the Senate Public Safety Committee. He also sponsored SB 155, which sought to ensure that dependants of firefighters killed in the line of duty were properly compensated.
