Six Atlanta firefighters headed to a blaze at a warehouse Thursday afternoon were injured when the two fire department vehicles they were traveling in collided.

A fire engine carrying four firefighters and an SUV carrying two other personnel ran into each other at Lee and Van Buren streets, Atlanta Fire Department spokesman Cortez Stafford said.

According to Channel 2 Action News, which reported that all six suffered injuries, the firefighters were headed to the 1900 block of Murphy Avenue in southwest Atlanta, the scene of the fire, when the collision occurred.

All six were taken to the hospital. As of Thursday night, five had been released, according to Channel 2.

Stafford said the two fire department personnel in the SUV were “banged up pretty good.” But he said their injuries were not life-threatening.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
