Atlanta firefighters were battling an apartment blaze just south of I-20 near downtown Friday morning.

The fire was reported about 7 a.m. in a two-story, brick apartment building in the 400 block of Rawson Street, between McDaniel and Windsor streets.

Atlanta fire spokeswoman Janet Ward said the building is vacant, and no injuries have been reported.

The flames could be seen from I-20 at 7:30 a.m., and smoke was drifting over the interstate.
