Investigators believe an iron left on caused an early-morning fire Friday in a Gwinnett County bridal shop.

The fire broke out just after midnight in the Aleysa's Bridal Shop, located in the Gwinnett Horizons Shopping Center at 5345 Jimmy Carter Blvd. in Norcross. Firefighters were able to bring it under control before it spread to other businesses.

Responding firefighters "were met with heavy fire and smoke conditions inside the bridal shop," Gwinnett County Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said. "The quick and decisive actions of the firefighters kept the flames from spreading to other nearby business suites."

The adjacent China Wok Restaurant and a vacant suite sustained slight smoke damage.

"We are confident that the fire cause is accidental and that the fire originated in the area of the iron," Rutledge said Friday afternoon.
