Fire levels Canton home

A Monday afternoon fire destroyed a home on Pea Ridge Lane in Canton.

Cherokee County and Canton firefighters responded to the blaze shortly before 3 p.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the 1-story home. A Cherokee fire spokesman said the residents escaped unharmed, but that the home was destroyed, along with a majority of its contents. A black Ford SUV was also destroyed.
