A Tuesday afternoon fire damaged a home and slightly injured its occupant, according to Cherokee County firefighters.
Crews rolled to 6295 Yellow Creek Road shortly before 5 p.m. and found that a blaze that started near the chimney had gotten into the attic. Firefighters said they were able to contain it before it did major damage.
A 74-year-old occupant of the home was treated for smoke inhalation, but refused to be take to the hospital. The cause is under investigation.
