Older residents in Peachtree City who qualify for the Senior Homestead property tax exemption can begin filing the necessary papers. The forms, which must be submitted each year, require that residents be age 65 or over and have already applied for the standard homestead exemption through the Fayette County tax commissioner’s office.

Household income must be less than $30,000; the exemption is a flat rate of $5,000 per home, or about $35 in city tax savings. Seniors should bring proof of age and a copy of last year’s tax returns to City Hall to file. Forms must be submitted by Feb. 28.
