An operation by U.S. Customs and Border Protection has seized thousands of counterfeit hoverboards, Channel 2 Action News reports.

More than 2,400 counterfeit hoverboards have been seized in Atlanta alone, the station reports.

“Over the course of last year, these products continuously come in from Southeast Asia,” said Rob Brisley with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. “That’s where the concern is for products that are unsafe.”

Channel 2 Action News spoke exclusively with the team from Atlanta that conducted a total of 18 separate operations in the city.

They say knock-offs are a concern in and out of the holiday season.

“It’s always a year round concern with any product being brought imported to the US. During holiday season, we do see importation of holiday goods, products that we see an influx of,” said Ronnie Matheson with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
