The FBI is looking for a serial bank robber who they say has robbed four metro Atlanta banks, including one Tuesday afternoon.
In all four incidents, a man has entered the bank and given the teller a note demanding money. He doesn't show a weapon, and he leaves with an undisclosed amount of money, FBI spokesman Stephen Emmett told AM 750 and now 95.5FM News/Talk WSB.
“He’s certainly causing a nuisance to the banking industry,” Emmett told WSB Radio.
Tuesday’s robbery happened at the Wells Fargo Bank in the 2200 block of Mountain Industrial Boulevard, near Tucker, Emmett said.
The incident happened just after 1 p.m.
The suspect struck another bank in Tucker the day before. This time it was the Best Bank in the 4300 block of Lawrenceville Highway, Emmett said.
The man also robbed the Best Bank in the 3400 block of Memorial Drive near Decatur, Emmett said.
And he robbed the Flagstar Bank in the 2400 block of Piedmont Road in Atlanta two days before that.
“What makes him a little bigger on the priority list is that he’s just not going away,” Emmett told WSB Radio. “We suspect that he will hit again until he gets caught.”
The FBI has released photos taken from surveillance cameras.
“The public should be able to recognize this individual; he has made no effort to disguise himself,” Emmett told the radio station.
Emmett said the man doesn’t show a weapon, but authorities aren’t assuming that he doesn’t have one.
“Any individual that goes into a bank and discloses that there’s a bank robbery -- you’ll just never know what they have and what they’ll produce and at what level they’ll take it,” he told WSB Radio.
Anyone with information regarding this matter should contact the FBI’s Atlanta office at: 404-679-9000 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
