The Fayetteville City Council voted on Aug. 16 to enact three temporary moratoriums while the city rewrites its ordinances related to land development.

The first is a six-month halt of Planned Community District rezoning applications; the second extends a previous moratorium on zoning actions and site development along the city’s four main highway corridors and the Jimmie Mayfield Corridor Overlay District; and the third halts annexations from unincorporated Fayette County for at least 90 days.

Community Development Director Jahnee Prince said a consulting team will review development standards and procedures to recommend zoning ordinance changes that are consistent with the city’s Comprehensive Plan.
