The City of Fayetteville recently completed the $3.1 million purchase of the current Fayette County Board of Education building at 210 Stonewall Avenue.

The nearly 10-acre parcel includes the administration offices as well as a former transportation building behind it, next to the Fayette County Public Library. The city is issuing a request for qualifications to begin the process of selecting an architectural and landscaping firm this fall to redevelop the site for a new two-story city hall building and adjacent park space. The school system is moving its staff to the LaFayette Educational Center by the end of the year once renovations there are complete.

Construction of the new city hall could begin as early as March 2019.
