The City of Fayetteville has chosen six final designs to be considered to replace the existing city flag.

A design contest committee made the selections from numerous entries and is asking the public to vote for their favorite at http://fayetteville-ga.gov/flag. The purpose of the contest is to engage the community in the discussion of whether to keep or change the current flag. The existing design is red, white and blue with a depiction of the clock tower from the historic downtown courthouse. The suggestion of updating the flag was made earlier this year by students at a city council meeting. After public input on the new designs, the council will decide the fate of the flag.

Nonresidents may vote also, but the city will give “extra consideration” to the opinions of city residents.
