Starting Aug. 2, the Fayetteville City Council will restructure its biweekly meeting format to give elected officials more time to discuss major projects before they are voted on. City Manager Ray Gibson said the council will use its first meeting of each month, at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday, as a work session, while most voting will be done at the council’s second meeting, at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month. “We like to keep our regular voting meetings moving at a swifter pace so we can be considerate of everyone’s time,” Gibson said, “but many upcoming projects will require more input from our elected officials.” All council meetings will remain open to the public, but there will not be a designated comment period during work sessions. Citizens can still offer feedback after the meetings. Agendas are at https://fayetteville-ga.gov/government/mayor-and-city-council/.
