The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office will begin a 12-week Citizen Academy in January to teach community members about the law enforcement profession and to develop partnerships between the police and the public. Classes will be held 6-8 p.m. every Tuesday starting Jan. 27 at the Sheriff’s office at 155 Johnson Ave. in Fayetteville.

Topics will include field operations, crime scene processing, SWAT team operations, laser shot video simulation and jail operations. Space is limited; applications are at www.fayettesheriff.org and must be submitted by Jan. 5.
