New chairs for middle and high school science classrooms will be the next round of upgrades for Fayette County schools. The Board of Education voted 5-0 on June 29 to allocate $575,000 of SPLOST funds to buy approximately 2,555 chairs, which are specially designed for seating flexibility in more collaborative classroom settings. Science coordinator Patricia Morgan said the furniture needs have been discussed with teachers for months, and that buying the chairs in bulk will improve pricing. However, board members asked for a more detailed plan and budget for future upgrades.
