Additional support resources are now in place at nine Fayette County schools, according to Julie Turner, assistant superintendent for student achievement.Turner outlined the new measures for the Board of Education on Jan. 14, following up on the board’s approval of approximately $322,000 last November to provide more student and teacher support in key areas.

Five elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools have newly designated staff members including instructional coaches, parapros, interventionists, study skills and special education teachers and graduation coaches. Several schools have also scheduled more professional learning and collaborative planning time for teachers.

Turner said data collected from the schools will be used to assess the effectiveness of the measures.
