Fayette County will soon begin upgrading its school intercom systems from analog to digital, starting with three schools already scheduled for renovation next summer.

On Jan. 19 the Board of Education unanimously approved the allocation of $487,619 of ESPLOST funds for new wiring, switches and network hardware at Kedron Elementary, Spring Hill Elementary and Sandy Creek High School. Parts are no longer available to repair the analog intercoms, and digital systems will improve both communications and security capabilities.
