Two weeks after a carbon monoxide leak was detected at J. C. Booth Middle School in Peachtree City, Fayette County is taking steps to install detectors at all of its schools.

The Jan. 25 leak in Booth’s boiler room resulted in more than a dozen students being evaluated for headaches in the school clinic. The leak at Booth was fixed that day, and two CO detectors have already been installed there. Facilities Director Mike Satterfield said Thursday that detectors have been ordered for the remaining schools and will be installed by the end of the month. State law does not currently require CO detectors in schools.
