Despite more lengthy discussion, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners still cannot agree on terms for a new ethics ordinance. The board asked County Attorney Dennis Davenport in December to prepare a revised ordinance, which he presented last week.

Although the updated draft streamlined the ordinance from 23 pages down to eight, board members were divided over whether the board itself should hear complaints related to appointed and elected officials or delegate that authority to a panel of independent attorneys.

Davenport will retool the measure once again for the board’s consideration on Feb. 25.
