Repaving of the major thoroughfare between Peachtree City and Fayetteville will begin the week of April 9.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will start work on Hwy. 54 at both ends simultaneously, with most of the milling and paving taking place at night to reduce the impact on traffic flow. The work will extend from the Fayette/Coweta line in the west to McDonough Road in the east. The project will cost approximately $14.5 million, with completion expected by late August.

Additional construction on the road at two intersections just west of Hwy. 74 in Peachtree City will soon finish, and should improve traffic flow once signal timing is reset.
