Several groups of Fayette County Public Schools employees deemed essential have begun working on a modified schedule, based on school closures that are now effective through the end of the school year in May.

The Board of Education reviewed the policy at its April 13 work session. Those affected are building custodians plus workers in the bus garage, facility services and warehouse operations, all of whom will work 10-hour days Monday-Thursday. School nutrition workers, who continue to prepare and distribute free meals to students at several locations across the county, will work a three-day schedule. The revised schedule is the same as the usual summer schedule for non-certified staff.

A memo from Assistant Superintendent Mike Sanders said each group of employees will be given a list of operating precautions by their respective supervisors to maintain social distancing due to the coronavirus.
