In order to schedule more professional learning time for teachers, Fayette County is adding four early-release days to its school calendar for 2017-18. The Board of Education voted 5-0 recently to make next Sept. 20, Oct. 19, Jan. 31 and March 14 early-release days for students.

The decision was made after a majority of teachers and staff who responded to an administration survey supported the change. Parents are being notified by letter so they can plan ahead. The school system is working on childcare and other logistics to reduce inconvenience.
