Fayette County’s public school enrollment is just barely higher now than it was this time last year. A report at Monday’s Board of Education work session showed 20,087 students enrolled now compared to 20,078 in October 2015.
Elementary schools had the greatest increase, with 8,199 students now versus 8,121 last fall; enrollment is highest at Spring Hill, Peeples and Sara Harp Minter. The high schools posted a modest gain of 48 more students collectively, but the middle schools showed a total of 117 fewer students enrolled since last fall.
