Citing the lack of a pay increase since 1993, the Fayette County Board of Education voted 4-1 Monday to seek legislative approval for a raise. The board is asking that its salaries increase from the current $500 a month to $850 a month for regular members and from $600 to $950 per month for the chair.

Chair Marion Key noted that the board does not receive reimbursement for in-county travel or related expenses, and that Fayette ranks below most other metro Atlanta counties for board compensation. Leonard Presberg voted against the measure.
