The Fayette County Board of Education is poised to adopt its FY2017 budget on June 20 after voting 4-1 to approve a final draft at its June 6 work session.

The $192.8 million budget includes a $22.8 million year-end fund balance, which is $3.5 million above the required reserve. The board also voted 4-1 to transfer $8.8 million from its general fund to the capital projects fund, with the intention (but not final commitment) of installing synthetic turf fields at all five high schools and contributing $5 million to a proposed county performing arts center.
