A wooded lot on the corner of Ga. 54 and Ebenezer Road has been rezoned for commercial use.

The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the request by property owners Jan A. Hutto and Timothy E. Trammell on Jan. 23, changing the 2.4-acre parcel’s designation from agricultural-residential to office-industrial. Planned for the site is a two-story, 15,000-square-foot professional/medical office building. The Fayette County Planning Commission previously approved the proposal at its Jan. 2 meeting, during which Vice Chairman Danny England encouraged the developer to position the building, rather than the parking lot, closer to Ga. 54 for aesthetic reasons.

Property agent Darrell Baker of Randolph Williamson told the planning commission that the building’s design and materials will be in keeping with homes and other structures in that overlay district, “so it will have a residential nature to it.”
