Fayette County has approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Fayette County Historical Society that will allow greater public access to Starr’s Mill.

The Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 on Nov. 8 to allow the society to offer educational programs at the mill from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. The county agreed to make improvements to the site, including upgrading the entrance walkway, increasing the number of portable restrooms, providing display cases and office furniture, making any necessary safety improvements and maintaining the landscaping. The society will provide staffing and display materials, as well as signage and literature.

The agreement is in effect for one year but is renewable.
