At its first work session of 2017 Monday night, the Fayette County Board of Education voted 4-1 to select Barry Marchman as its new chair. Marchman won re-election to the Post 1 seat in November and served as vice chair last year.

Diane Basham was chosen as the new vice chair by a 5-0 vote. New members Brian Anderson and Scott Hollowell joined the board, replacing Dan Colwell and longtime chair Marion Key. Leonard Presberg will be the board’s legislative liaison; Anderson agreed to be Fayette’s delegate to the Georgia School Boards Association summer conference, with Basham as the alternate.
