Fayette County Public Schools might reinstate two of the middle school sports programs it cut during the recession.

Ted Lombard, coordinator for safety, athletics and discipline, recommended Monday that the Board of Education approve the funding necessary to bring back 7th grade girls and boys basketball and 7th grade girls volleyball, starting in the fall. The action would require three supplements for assistant coach positions in each school, for a total of about $12,750 a year.

Board member Barry Marchman asked for a more detailed cost estimate before the board votes.
