Fayette County has decided to install a roundabout at the intersection of Antioch Road and Goza Road, only days after making it a four-way stop.

The Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 to authorize the project after traffic engineers studying the site presented new data at the Nov. 9 board meeting. A report by Heath & Lineback estimated that a roundabout would provide an 83 percent reduction in crashes involving serious injury or fatality.

The approximately $1 million to install the roundabout was already budgeted in the county’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax project list. However, plans won’t be submitted for another four months and construction will take at least a year to complete.
