Fayette County Board of Education member Barry Marchman used an unusual but legal maneuver Monday to reverse his earlier vote regarding board pay raises.

The board voted 3-2 on Feb. 8 to ask the state legislature for permission to increase board compensation to $850 per month ($950 for the chair), with the provision that it not take effect until the next term for each seat. Marchman changed his mind about the delay and invoked his right to ask for a re-vote on a version that eliminated it, which passed 3-2.

Dan Colwell and Leonard Presberg said they were not included in discussions to revisit the matter, and would not accept the increase.
