Fayette County has completed a classification and compensation study for all of its employees, but most will not see any immediate salary increase.

During its June 22 budget hearing, the Board of Commissioners heard a summary from Alex Daman of the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, which conducted the study. Based on interviews and questionnaires, the study reviewed job descriptions and classifications as well as analyzed salary data, based on comparisons with eight nearby jurisdictions.

The report outlines 251 new classifications with 22 salary grades. Only 34 positions had significant changes, and no additional compensation was implemented for grade changes.
