After going back and forth over whether Fayette County Administrator Steve Rapson should be authorized to manage certain county policy changes, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 on Oct. 22 to bring all new and amended policies and procedures before the board at public meetings.

Chairman Charles Oddo said he felt delegating some duties to Rapson was more efficient, given that the board can review all changes at any time. Commissioner Steve Brown said the elected board shouldn’t “abdicate” authority to a “contract employee.” Oddo and Commissioner David Barlow voted against the measure.
