Most of Fayette County’s FY2018 budget was approved recently, but two elements remain unresolved. Following the second and final public hearing, the Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 to accept the $50 million general fund budget plus water system expenses and capital improvement projects that put the total budget at $101.4 million.

The board voted 3-2 to give a $43,000 supplement to the Griffin Circuit Superior Court judges, but delayed consideration of a $7,000 contribution to the nonprofit Fayette FACTOR organization and a request from the Fayette CARE Clinic for $14,000.

Charles Rousseau voted against all of the measures, calling the discussion of judges’ salaries “highly inappropriate.”
