Fayette County’s Board of Commissioners held a called meeting on Jan. 31 to debate whether board members should have unrestricted access to personnel files. The meeting was prompted by Commissioner Steve Brown’s procurement of documents related to allegations of workplace misconduct by 911 Director Bernard Brown.
Vice Chairman Randy Ognio, who ran the meeting in Chairman Eric Maxwell’s absence, said commissioners must follow county procedures to protect employee confidentiality. Steve Brown denied wrongdoing.
The board voted 4-0-1 to ask County Administrator Steve Rapson and County Attorney Dennis Davenport to further specify the access process for both the board and Rapson.
