The Fayette County Board of Commissioners has approved construction of a solar farm at Camp Southern Ground off Ebenezer Church Road. The nonprofit facility, developed by country singer Zac Brown, is being built to benefit children with autism, learning issues and emotional challenges.

Ben Ferguson, director of construction for CSG, told the commission Thursday that the solar array would occupy about five acres of the property and help reduce the camp’s energy costs. The panels will be fenced off, with natural and planted vegetation providing a green buffer.
