A married father of four children was killed in a motorcycle crash that shut down southbound Lawrenceville Highway early Tuesday.

Thomas Baptiste, 42, of Lawrenceville, was driving his motorcycle to work when a car struck him, according to a GoFundMe page the Atlanta chapter of the Dirty South Stunners Motorcycle Club set up to help pay for Baptiste's funeral expenses.

He was a member of the club, said Mario Wymbs, founder of the club.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

“At this point, we don’t have any indication that anybody was under the influence of anything,” Lilburn police Capt. Thom Bardugon said. “We’re still working on trying to figure out exactly what the cause of the accident was.”

The driver of the motorcycle was heading south on Lawrenceville Highway toward Atlanta when a northbound Acura sedan was turning left onto Summer Ridge Lane, Bardugon said. The Acura hit the motorcycle.

The driver of the Acura was taken to Eastside Medical Center but did not appear to have any injuries, Bardugon said.

“It seems like she was having a very stressful time with this,” he said.

The accident closed lanes between Ronald Reagan Parkway and Pleasant Hill Road from 6:15 to 9:05 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
