Atlanta police Monday were investigating an early morning shooting that left a father of four dead.

Marcus Baker, 29, was shot around 12:40 a.m. Monday in the Old Fourth Ward, at the intersection of Wabash Avenue and Boulevard.

Police told WSB-TV that Baker was struck by a bullet at least once in the chest after being approached by a group of men demanding money. He was pronounced dead after being transported to Atlanta Medical Center.

Witnesses say the suspects were seen speeding off in a gold car.
