Camp Creek Parkway was closed for more than three hours following a fatal pedestrian accident during Monday’s morning commute.

The incident happened about 7 a.m. at the intersection of Camp Creek Parkway and Welcome All Road.

State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said a vehicle attempting to make a left turn onto Welcome All Road struck another vehicle, pushing that vehicle into the woodline.

“The driver that hit the vehicle got out of her car and was going to check on the other driver when she was hit by an oncoming BMW,” Wright told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an e-mail. “The female pedestrian was killed.”

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as 52-year-old Toni Willis, of Decatur.

Wright said that the driver of the vehicle that was initially hit was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver who hit the pedestrian remained at the scene, he said.

All lanes of Camp Creek Parkway in both directions reopened by 10:30 a.m.
