Family members of a woman who they say was abducted and held at knifepoint are asking for the public's help in finding the person responsible.

The 59-year-old Marietta woman was kidnapped Monday by a knife-wielding man, family members told Channel 2 Action News.

The victim's daughter said the man forced the woman, who is mentally ill, into a vacant apartment on Austell Road and bound her with duct tape.

The ordeal lasted four to five hours, the victim's daughter said, and the attacker told the victim she would not survive. Her mother escaped and was hospitalized.

Police told Channel 2 they have leads and are trying to track down the assailant. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Persons unit at 770-499-3900.
