The family of a high school senior shot to death in DeKalb County on Thursday wants answers. They hope a surveillance camera near the crime scene can help, Channel 2 Action News reported Monday.
Dominique Boyer, an 18-year-old student at Columbia High School, was fatally shot at the Austin Oaks Apartments on Glenwood Road. The teen was hanging out with friends in a stairwell of the complex around 4:45 p.m. when shots were fired, DeKalb County police said. He was the only person hit when a passenger inside an SUV opened fired on the group, police told Channel 2.
He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died, his family said.
“I’m so hurt right now and I just wish whoever done this to my son would just really just please turn yourself in,” mother Monique Boyer told Channel 2.
The family hopes a camera near the crime scene recorded images that can assist police with the investigation.
“Just anything. Any clues,” his aunt Lawanda Boyer told the TV station. “The car, the tag. Just anything that we can get.”
Dominique planned to go to college and become an accountant, his family said.
“My nephew was just an innocent bystander,” Lawanda Boyer previously told the AJC.
