There’s grief but no anger among family and friends over the recent pedestrian fatality of Walton County teen Jaden Force.
More than 200 people turned out Monday night in Loganville for a vigil for Force, 14, who was struck and killed by a motorist on Highway 81. According to media reports, Force was fishing with friends about 9:30 p.m. Friday when they thought they heard sirens. That’s when they ran across the highway, and the car hit Jaden, who died Saturday.
“He was the first one and that’s when he got hit,” David Force, Jaden’s father, told Channel 2 Action News.
“I knew the kid was a great kid, but I didn’t know he touched so many people like he had.”
No charges are expected in the incident, Loganville Police Chief Mike McHugh told Loganville Local News.
Force’s father feels like the incident was a tragic accident.
“I want him to know and his family to know that my heart’s out to them as well,” he told Channel 2.
Jaden Force’s friends at Loganville Middle School were saddened Monday by the news of his death.
“First five minutes in school, I was crying, I missed him so much,” friend T.J. Moon told Channel 2.
The school had been scheduled to hold Georgia Milestone testing soon, but the principal has asked for a delay so that students have time to grieve, Channel 2 reported.
