A fund-raising in October will benefit the South River Watershed Alliance in its environmental work.

The South River Jamboree is the group’s first public appeal for funding, held after years of clean-up days and canoe outings to encourage more awareness and conservation at the river.

The jamboree will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Lithonia Women’s Club, 2564 Wiggins St. and features music, food and drink.

Tickets are $30 at 404-285-3756 or www.southriverga.org.
