Community Development Director Nick Colonna updated the Duluth City Council April 27 on the current budget for the George Rogers Avenue project, formerly known as the Hospital Connector. At the March 30 council meeting the George Rogers Avenue project was approximately $620,000 over budget.

Duluth staff was able to research and work through a series of design requests to return the construction costs close to the original estimate. Although encouraged, the Duluth City Council cautioned there are still potential unreported costs for items such as signaling, etc.

The George Rogers Avenue project is a new east-west roadway that will connect the roundabout at the intersection of McClure Bridge, Irvindale Road and West Lawrenceville St. and Abbotts Bridge/State Route120 adjacent to the proposed new entrance to Duluth High School.
