The combination of cows and cars wreaked havoc on a Newton County road overnight when the bovines got loose and wandered into traffic on U.S. 278 near Covington.

Channel 2 Action News reported early Thursday that five cars crashed into the cows, which had escaped from a pasture near the intersection of U.S. 278 and Ga. 142.

The station reported that authorities did not know how many cows died in the accidents, but said no people were hurt.
