A rezoning application would pave the way for a Gwinnett County horse farm to offer equine therapy to wounded soldiers and individuals with special needs.

The 26-acre property at 4150 Beaver Road in Loganville currently operates as a private farm and is home to six horses, according to documents filed with the Gwinnett County Planning Commission. The requested zoning change would allow the owner to "operate a business that boards, trains and breeds horses, and provides riding lessons and therapy for the Wounded Warriors program, autism programs and other 'special needs' individuals."

No new structures would be built on the property.

"The area has long been home to farms and ranches and considered to be farm friendly," the application said.

The proposal is just one of several scheduled to be considered at the planning commission's Sept. 6 meeting. Peruse the full agenda here or check out the interactive map below.
