An 84-year-old Gwinnett County man was found safe Friday evening, more than 300 miles away from home.

Ralph Parrish was found in Dillon, S.C., about 24 hours after he left his home near Lilburn.

Parrish, who has been diagnosed with dementia, left his home around 7 p.m. Thursday to collect rent from a property in DeKalb County. He called a family member later Thursday night, saying he was lost in south Atlanta.

Neither Parrish nor his small white dog were harmed.

Family members were headed to pick up Parrish late Friday.
