East Point City Council plans to re-examine its tree ordinance for changes early next year.

The council recently weighed whether to create owner liability with a person’s dead tree falls onto city or other property. But the matter created more questions about whether property owners or the city is responsible to trim back trees and shrubs that extend into the right-of-way, such as over sidewalks and power lines.

The council is slated to debate the local law in January. No date for a vote has been set.
