East Point seeks resident input on short-term rentals

With the popularity of short term property rentals through companies such as Airbnb, the East Point City Council is hosting a town hall meeting 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, in the City Annex Auditorium, 3121 Norman Berry Drive.

The discussion will center around what residents want in terms of short term rental guideslines.

Cities across the country are enacting ordinances because the practice has risen so quickly, many find there is no local laws to address complaints of noise, parking and litter.

In some cities, ordinances require hosts to get a permit and submit a guest accommodation plan that includes the number of beds, a floor plan, and plans for parking and trash.
